What are the origins of One-Behindmanship?
One-Behindmanship arose in the passages of a particularly grubby Nottingham drinking establishment. It has no single inventor, instead being an emergent property of the mien of Messrs. Hayes, Peck, Wilkinson, Hayward, and their distinguished Oriental friend Mr. Pung.
Is it really proper?
Absolutely. It is fundamentally a game of manners, no matter how coarsely they are warped.
Surely though, as good manners are the primary thing that sets us apart from savages, and are thus the foundation of empire, tampering with them in this way will halt progress and bring society crashing to its knees?
Not at all. "Stalemate" becomes the frequently used replacement for the much neglected "After you".
To whom do I send further questions?
Direct all enquiries to mortimer.biddle@fakegmail.com, after removing "fake".

Pending further questions, additional uptight waffle shall be placed here.
